Wedding invitation wording and etiquettes

Now that you've picked out your stationery, it's time to work on the wedding invitation wording—The good news is that wedding invitation etiquette rules are simple and straightforward.

No matter which style you select, these guideline will provide the basic elements for the wording can be applied to either classic and traditional or creative and whimsical and can be created your own.

The most important rule of all is that you create a beautiful wedding invitation that represents two of you, your love and the big day to come, oh and provides the key details of the wedding.

Minted Invitation: Vitrage foil press

Must haves:

  1. Who is hosting

  2. The request to attend

  3. The names of the couple

  4. The date and time

  5. The location

  6. Reception information

  7. Dress code (optional but suggested)

  8. Website/Accommodation details

  9. Separate RSVP Card (with either a stamped envelope/email address of a website to provide responses)

Traditionally, the bride's parents are the hosts of the wedding and are named at the top of the invitation, even for very formal affairs. However, including the names of both sets of parents as hosts is a gracious option. Also, more and more couples these days are hosting their own weddings, or do so together with their parents.

If it's a collaborative affair, you can also use "Together with their parents, (Bride) and (Groom) request the pleasure of your company ..."
